Marketing Eye
New York

The East Coast, particularly New York and Maryland, stands at the forefront of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) in marketing, ushering in a new era where data-driven strategies dictate the pace of business growth and innovation.

I've had a 24-hour overload of over-thinking, self-criticism, insight reviewing - that really has sucked.

I am not one to complain, because let's face it - who wants to listen to anyone complain? I don't even want to hear myself complain... it's dull, and definitely not respectful to all the good things that go on in life.
After spending 4 days in New York, I am reminded once more the value of chemistry. If you are anything like me, each and every time I fly into New York, I fall madly in love once again with the city that never sleeps.

New York is more than just another city in the big world we live in. It is a city with so much hope, excitement and opportunity, that even people that have glasses half empty, have to at the very least appreciate.
Whether it's the second quarter or last quarter of your financial year, you would note that something is going on in the economy and it's creating a lot of uncertainty.
I was in New York sipping champagne courtesy of Waldorf Astoria's fantastic service, mingling with the rich and famous mostly because I was in the right place at the right time, and breathing in all that this fast paced, inspirational city has to offer.
I am rejuvenated and ready to tackle my next challenge after spending valuable time in New York talking to hundreds of entrepreneurs from around the globe.

After having breakfast with Jo Burston, founder of Inspiring Rare Birds, at Mercer Kitchen in Soho, I realized for the first time that the change I am experiencing in business happens to many others in a similar manner. Somehow, we get most of changes right or at least we get more right than we get wrong. When this happens everything falls into place and no obstacle is too hard to overcome.
There’s a lot to love about New York City.

I have been here many times and each and every time, I fall in love all over again.

New York has been kind to me. The weather, which is reasonably mild for this time of year, has been easy to accommodate with a few layers of clothing. The restaurants new and old have been phenomenal and the people have been friendly. What more can a girl ask at this time of year?

"Same bed, but it feels a bit bigger now" is the lyrics in the famous Bruno Mars song "When I was your man". An apt description of Marketing Eye's business expansion into the US market. It's the same company, but it's a bit bigger now.

What started out as a step to expand the international footprint of our brand, has taken on a whole new dimension. Australia and America have long been tied and now more so than ever. The ebbs of the economy has led to an opportunity for Australian companies that are geared for expansion to leverage the strength of the Australian dollar, and affordable set up costs in the US market without breaking the bank. The downside, is US dollars are not worth as much, as the dollar loses its grip on parity.

In today's New York Times, there is a full page advertisement that says:

THIS IS NO PLACE TO DREAM SMALL.

IN NEW YORK STATE, A BUSINESS CAN GROW
AS BIG AS ANYONE CAN POSSIBLY IMAGINE.

THIS IS A PLACE WITH A WHOLE
NEW APPROACH TO BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT.
WITH THE FASTEST-GROWING TECH SECTOR IN THE U.S.,
ONE OF THE BEST EDUCATED WORKFORCES IN AMERICA,
AND OVER $1 BILLION IN INCENTIVES AND TAX BREAKS,
IT'S NOT SURPRISING THAT OUR ECONOMY LAUNCHED OVER
50,000 NEW BUSINESSES LAST YEAR ALONE.

NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE,
OR WHAT YOU DREAM OF BECOMING,
REMEMBER THIS:
NO ONE EVER CAME HERE TO TAKE A BACK SEAT,
PLAY SECOND FIDDLE,
OR MAKE IT SMALL.
A marketing consultant is not necessarily a marketing consultant.

From one to another, they are completely different. Some have great skills in strategy, others in tactical development and execution of marketing plans. Some are great at communicating but not fully across social media or what role advertising plays in the digital age.

In the past year, I have travelled the world talking to marketers and each one has something different to offer. They all have honed their skills in one area or another.

I first started my involvement in the marketing industry 21 years ago at an advertising agency in  Queensland. I remember watching the owner of the business operate and being completely fascinated by his skills and creativity. He had started his career as a window dresser for a large retailer and way back in the early nineties was making more than a million dollars profit out of 5-man agency. Incredible.
