After having breakfast with Jo Burston, founder of Inspiring Rare Birds, at Mercer Kitchen in Soho, I realized for the first time that the change I am experiencing in business happens to many others in a similar manner. Somehow, we get most of changes right or at least we get more right than we get wrong. When this happens everything falls into place and no obstacle is too hard to overcome.
Our Australian offices are unique. They are the cornerstone of our business and are instrumental in providing the backbone of our international business expansion. But it is the US market that I continue to be extremely excited about. So much is going on and the opportunity to build a big business in that market is imminent. All it takes is hard work, determination and the right business processes.
I get so much from talking to other entrepreneurs and its not always about what they say. It's about what they do and what in our dialogue causes me to come up with an idea that is relevant to my business.
I am getting more and more confident that 1000 clients is possible and will be a reality sooner than I expect. When that happens, I will finally have achieved what I set out to achieve. Knowing that it is not only possible but growing every day is rewarding and exciting for not just myself but the entire team. As we grow, they grow. When we make more money, we are able to invest more money and so on. These are the things that make small business so rewarding to work for. Rather than focus on profitability (which we have), we are focused on how we can reinvest in our business and team, giving them the benefit of the hard work they put in.
New York is an amazing city. The energy is contagious and even the trash by the streets somehow seems to be art and part of what makes New York so remarkable.
But it's the people that really stand out. New Yorkers and imposters like myself. The real New Yorker has something about them that is intangible. They walk a certain way. Talk a certain way. Laugh a certain way. And... they never sleep. Seriously... dining late at night and then going to work early in the morning must be a very hard slog. Somehow they all do it and never complain.
What I have taken away from this week is game-changing and I am keen to share this with you during the next few weeks on this blog.
