Today, September 27, 2019, everyone’s favorite search engine turned 21 years old. What began as a merely an idea, a paper published by Stanford PhD students Sergey Brin and Larry Page called “The Anatomy of a Large-Scale Hypertextual Web Search Engine”, has become a multibillion-dollar company and the most popular search engine by a wide margin. Not only is it a search engine, but Google has its own browser with its very own suite of services like Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets and cloud storage with Google Drive. In a matter of merely 21 years, Google has become the primary way that people search the internet. How did this happen? Now that Google is of legal drinking age in the US, let’s take a look at how they got where they are today.

In the past few years I have become an exporter of marketing services. I became one a few years back when I decided to expand Marketing Eye into new markets. The most suitable market after much research was America, so I did what any buddying entrepreneur would do and I completed a market research study to make sure that if I started a business there, it was not set up to fail. Market research is crucial!

A mixture of gut instincts, business acumen, networks and of course a business model that no-one else had, gave us a head start. I also chose a city where the cost of setup was low, the Australian dollar was sitting pretty at $1.06 to every American dollar, and where few people knew who I was.
The first rule for a service provider is to provide a solution to a clients "problem". Right?

When a small business owner finds the need to "outsource" any area of their business, they tend to consult with their friends, employees, other service providers and in general key influencers, as to who that new service provider should be. Then they interview them, and if the connection is right, they hire them.
