There's just something good about Friday. Most people see it as the second best day of the week (next to Saturdays).  But, Fridays can be the best day of the week for an entrepreneur.  Monday through Thursday is reserved for working like crazy in your business, but Fridays is the day to work on your business.  For me, Monday through Thursday is spent marketing my clients' businesses, meeting with prospects, attending events and writing marketing strategies for my customers.  I reserve Friday to re-energize my business and myself.  This is when I put together marketing plans for my own business, I set goals and budgets, write blogs, engage in activities that inspire my creativity,  and connect with mentors, friends and others in my field.
I was talking with a friend this week about the reorganization of the company where she works.  A colleague is being demoted from the job she has had for ten years, and the manager didn't think this demotion would drive the employee our of the company due to her old age of 49.

Next week I will be 44.  I don't feel old.  I feel mentally sharp and physically fit. I juggle many things as a business owner, a mom a weekend athlete ( I just ran a half marathon two months ago). I just don't feel old. I have spent 15 years in corporate, owned and grown a business, beginning a new business.  I feel I am finally hitting my stride in my career and can be seen as an expert in my field.

‘Every risk is worth taking as long as it’s for a good cause and contributes to a good life’ Sir Richard Branson

It’s been a while since my last post when I decided to ditch my un-planned plan of travelling, chilling out, having some ‘me time’ (as the self help books would put it) and taking a breath. Let me tell you; I’ve been taking a lot of deep breaths in the last couple of months (into a paper bag at times) and it’s not that I haven’t thought about posting it’s just, well, I haven’t quite known how to articulate what’s been going on.
It’s almost impossible in marketing circles at the moment to avoid the topics ‘Content Marketing’ and ‘Content Strategy’, and not that you should. Now more than ever they are of paramount importance, however they are really just the first steps in your overall Inbound Marketing strategy. Once your content has generated interest and engagement, that’s when Conversational Marketing comes in to nurture and develop the relationship with your audience and ideally lead them to becoming a customer and an advocate for your brand.

Conversational Marketing isn't a new concept and is not exclusively related to digital marketing. Having said that social media does present an excellent opportunity for brands and businesses to ‘have a conversation’ with their target audience.
