In Australia, it's Mother's Day today.

A day that we show appreciation for our Mother's and tell them how important they are to our lives.

My Mother is an interesting woman. She is highly religious, has an incredible sense of resilience and shows compassion to people around her like no-one I have never seen before.

As a child, I remember looking up to her. I loved that she wasn't showy like some other people's Mother's and that she always stood in the background, quiet, yet very supportive. She was the type of Mother that would bake a cake, pop into the school unannounced and give a slice to each of the kids in our class so that they could enjoy her delicious baking for morning tea. Knowing that I had a phobia of eating food out of a lunchbox, she also use to drive 10 kilometres to drop me off fresh lunch, or my favourite fish and chips, on days when the canteen didn't operate - so I would not starve.

What TWEETS me off!

Twitter is awesome for business. Seriously awesome. Even this week, a new client signed with Marketing Eye on $24,000 for the year via following me on Twitter. I love it! A small investment in time for a great return. It helps promote the Marketing Eye brand globally, encourages people to go to our website, increases the number of people who read our marketing blogs and engages at a level that 10 years ago, we would not have been able to do.

But, there are a few things that annoy me about twitter.
21 Traits of a Successful Entrepreneur
I woke up this morning at 3.30am and could not stop thinking. My brain was on overload. All I could think about was business.

Expanding a business internationally is not exactly the easiest task to undertake. It requires a lot more work than you think and some serious planning.

When a person has a big business goal, it can be all-consuming. It's a 24 hour, 7 day a week gig. And when you put that sort of effort into something, you are looking for one hell-of-a-return. I know I am!

Most entrepreneurs think about the end goal. What is it that they are trying to achieve. Then they work back from there. What steps need to be taken to achieve this goal.

To me, this is the norm, but what sets one successful person apart from the run-of-the-mill entrepreneur can often come down to a set of traits. So, what traits make a successful entrepreneur?

21 Traits of a Successful Entrepreneur

If you really want to surf the next wave - here's how to do it
Learning to surf a wave is not the easiest task in the world to do. It requires a certain amount of skill, some balance and a whole lot of determination. And... it requires practice.

In the dotcom boom, everyone who was not inventing an online business, were buying up shares so that they felt part of it. The problem was, that by the time the publicity hits and consumers are encouraged to buy shares, the fat cats in corporate finance and early investors have already made their dough.
How Creative Do You Want To Be?
Thinking outside the square is getting harder and harder to do. Creatives are now more challenged than ever even though they have more platforms to be creative on.
I am on a very personal journey right now with my business. 8 years ago, I had a dream and after years of fine tuning the business, I am ready to make it come to life. To reach the next level.

What that means is continually putting myself out there, sharing my experiences and taking my business to a level that no-one else in the industry has been able to achieve to date.

Basically, my dream or more precisely, something that is on my bucket list, is to build a company valued at $100 million. I am finally on that road and I know that within 5 years, this is now a reality.
It's a wake up call on how one communicates with others that they come into contact with and what lasting impression that leaves.
Why fake balls can weigh you down - women be warned!
Over the years, I have met many inspirational women who have had some impact on my life in one way or another.

When I was just 25 years old, the then Chairman of Citibank in Australia organised for me to meet Wendy McCarthy, who at that time was on numerous boards including John McGrath's, McGraths Real Estate board and acted as a mentor to senior managers in many of Australia's top companies.
What's wrong with realilty?
Last night I watched snippets of The Voice. I am totally mesmerized by how taken I have been to this show. Here I am, a person who cannot stand watching television when a good book is on offer, yet I have been sucked in by this cleverly collaborated show.

In this case, it's all about the judges. Keith Urban's to die for looks and voice - OMG! Seal's sexiness and Joel Madden's incredible charisma - who would have thought? Even Delta, who I liked before the first two episodes, then found her speaking voice and over-acting mildly irritating, is now back in my good books. She is delightful. She has settled into the role and with these four judges, Australian Television reality shows has gone to another great level.

Last night, a very talented young girl who I know, sent me a link via Facebook to look at a video she produced as her entry to The Channel V Presenter Search. Watch this BUT PLEASE PRESS THE LOVE HEART BEFORE YOU EXIT:

A clear example that there is talent out there waiting to be found.

For Channel V, holding a competition like this is great for driving people to their website. What was surprising though, was how hard it was to find out what to do on the website. I found it really hard to work out that you have to click on the picture, then click on the video, then click on the love heart. All a bit confusing. Not sure how it is possible that one person was able to get 300k love hearts clicked. Sounds dodgy to me, because it isn't very easy to actually work out how this competition is being run.

What are your thoughts? Does the website make it hard to like this competition? Are you struggling to work out what to do? What are your thoughts.

P.S. How hilarious is the video. Very, very funny!

P.S.S. Scroll down on the Channel V page, find Georgia Sinclair's picture, click on the picture, then an extended screen will pop up. Click on 'watch video', then laugh your head off, but before you press close, MAKE SURE YOU CLICK ON THE LOVE HEART.

If one more person has the conversation with me this week, that I need to stop working hard, I will SCREAM.

This built up emotion from people with all the good intentions of the world, opting to tell me that I should not be working so hard. I am frustrated, confronted and in desperate need of explaining myself so that hopefully good natured people understand that some things require work.
John Gray has written quite a few books on relationships and millions of women around the world have read them avidly. No wonder women tend to be better leaders statistically when they actually reach the top jobs, then their male counterparts.

Gray has a book, Mars and Venus on a Date which basically is a guide to navigating the 5 stages of dating to create lasting relationships.

If you bare with me, you will see how this can relate to relationships with employees that are looking for the perfect job. Particularly essential reading for small business owners.
How to inspire your team
Most entrepreneurs know when they can 'turn it on' and become an inspirational leader, but for many, there are a select few employees that actually get to see you 'live' telling your story. Afterall, your entire team often do not accompany you to a public speaking events and usually only management get to know your new ideas when its raw and at its most exciting point - you know when haven't been battered down by reality like financials or ability to execute.
Do you have someone or something that is a benchmark to you?

I have a couple; personal and professional.
Wake Up Call - Every Entrepreneur Has Had One
A wake up call for me wasn't so dramatic. In fact it was something that I hold dear to my heart and appreciate more than the words that were written.
Small business marketing is dead - here's why
It's a statement that has finality but how much of it is true?
