Temporarily, I have moved myself back to Sydney and doing the reverse rotation with Queensland and Victorian offices. This is due to a couple of reasons, namely that the Melbourne office is going great guns and isn’t so reliant on me personally and secondly, because I am in need of some sunshine and having a small business gives me this flexibility to follow that desire.
Since my move one week ago, it seems that I have been spending a lot of time in my motor vehicle and a friend of mine suggested that I download a few audio books to listen to while I am driving. Let’s face it, commercial radio is really bad! So, it’s either sit in silence or drive listening to people talk crap.
So, I found some audio books that I was interested in; motivational books, how to sell books and general business books.
This is how I came to find Anthony Robbins.
I, unlike most small business owners, have never been to an Anthony Robbins seminar, nor have I read his books and other than a couple of news stories, I don’t know too much about him. Yes, I have been sitting under a rock! I have never thought I needed motivating as I am one of the most motivated people I know. I wake up every day dying to get to the office and start the work day. I don’t want to go home at night (and that’s not because I have nothing going on in my life) because I don’t want to get off the computer working on either my business or client work.
I have a healthy and exciting social life, so I make sure that when I go home, I don’ t check emails and use my phone only for calls related to my personal life. It ensures that I don’t spend 24 hours a day working and forces me into being social and not find a good book or DVD and hang at home by myself night after night.
So, I thought that listening to Anthony Robbins through an audio book isn’t a bad idea. I didn’t fancy paying all that money to see him and find out that I already know what he is going to say and am already practising it day after day.
As I listened, I realised that firstly his voice is a tad creepy and his method is plain weird (he doesn’t know me or know what I think – so why is he professing that his audience is part of his inner circle???) BUT… and now this is a huge BUT… his messages, if you write them down, are great reminders for everyone and in particular, a small business owner.
He talks about the fact that we ‘all have dreams’ and we should ‘break down the walls that have been holding us back’.
‘Control your own destiny’ because you have ‘unlimited power’.
These things ring true and make sense. His audio book ‘Awaken the Giant Within’ is about positively impacting his audiences life and teaching people to control their own destiny and make decisions today on how they are going to live their lives in years to come.
Download this book and ignore the creepy sound of his voice and listen to the underlying messages. It’s Monday, and there is no day better than to start out motivated, on-track and ready to take control of your destiny.
