Marketing Consultant Shares Insights blog

It's a cold but sunny Sunday morning in Buckhead, Atlanta. After a nice of soft snow flakes and below freezing temperatures, the sun has decided to come out and shine, and everyone has decided to get out from beneath their doonas and brave the beautiful spring day.

I am sitting in a crowded coffee shop, sampling yet another Caribou carefully brewed coffee that lacks the lustre of Italian coffee but all the same, isn't so bad for a somewhat subdue coffee culture.
Sunday rituals can be something else - if you know what I mean

I am impressed that the coffee shop is so packed on a Sunday morning full of people with their laptops in hand, typing away on blogs, to friends and what appears to be a few dating sites. Yes, I have been a little naughty and looked over a few people's shoulders, but what the heck, I am a stranger and it is only for my own amusement.

I stare a little too hard at a man that is completely immensed in eharmony and his facial expressions are changing by the minute. It's amazing what a website can do to someone's life. I could see him smile and feel quite chuffed because of something he was reading, and puzzled over another.

The world has changed so much and to see a crowded coffee shop full of people caught up in their own worlds of study, reading, surfing the net, returning emails, writing blogs and engaging in interactive websites like eharmony - is quite mesmerizing.

My Sunday ritual is to wake up and read the papers. You know - the old fashion, paperback kind. I enjoy the process of flipping pages and staining by fingers with newspaper ink. I also really love the sound of the pages flipping through, one after another. I tend to ring family on Sunday as it has always been a day that I put everything aside and put family first. After a walk down the street, a coffee with some friends, I returned to my new home, a hotel room, and began working until 9pm at night. It's become my new international ritual, that hopefully won't last too long.
