Marketing Consultant Shares Insights blog

On Saturday, I was invited to speak to a group of image consultants and stylists about my journey as an entrepreneur and to also give a few tips on marketing.

The women in the room were dynamic, enthusiastic, stylish and really good people. Whilst at the end of the day, their competitors were sitting next to them, they embraced each other’s uniqueness and shared ideas, thoughts and issues that they found in running a small business.

Being a stylist or image consultant is a very special business to be in. They can make any person, look and feel good about themselves, just by helping them dress and wear the right colours, makeup and hairstyle.  I know when I have a bad haircut, I feel unattractive and I lose confidence. If my outfit isn’t quite right, I want to hide behind a door and keep it closed. If I see a photo of me that is clearly hideous, I cringe.

Image consultants and stylist take all of these issues away by helping you be the best person you possibly can be from an image perspective.

When asked to speak before this group, the first thing I thought about is what will I wear? The thought of speaking to a group of people who know exactly what to wear and when, made my confidence take a nose-dive.

In the end, I consulted a stylish girlfriend of mine who is the most stylish woman I know and asked her what I should wear. She just said to wear what you normally would wear on a Saturday going to lunch with a bunch of girlfriends.

“Don’t try too hard, just keep it simple.”

I did this. I wore my favourite black Diesel jeans, a black turtleneck I bought in Paris recently and a Little Joe fur vest. This was complemented by Essjai Accessories (go down and see their Malvern Store in High Street – it’s the best!). I added a Cartier ring that I bought for myself a few years ago that I simply love and it’s also a good luck charm and a Chanel watch.

I didn’t feel confident, but at least I knew that because I was in all black, I would blend in. Or not. No-one was in all black. These women have personalities and they show it in the amazing style that they inately possess and that means showing a bit of colour.

I studied each of their outfits and was mesmerised by how they put it all together. One stunning young girl had what I would call Madonna inspired gloves on (I know that this is the wrong description btw!) and her shoes were absolutely one of the coolest pair of heels I have ever seen. How do you compete? The answer is, you don’t. Instead, you either start working with a image consultant or you go online to http://www.your-estyle.com/ and find out exactly what suits you and what doesn’t.

And for all the corporate chicks out there that are tired of wearing the same old boring clothes to work each day and want to style it up a bit, there are plenty of talented image consultants that specialise in just this.

I am definately going to get a image consultant in to look at my wardrobe. I am tired of wasting money on outfits that I never wear because when I get home, I realise that they just don’t suit me or the colour is really wrong.

Every single person can benefit from an image consultant or stylist and you would be surprised by the fact that there are many out there that are very affordable. In fact, who can afford not to have a image consultant? Think about how much money you waste each year on clothes you don’t wear.
