Marketing Consultant Shares Insights blog

Late on Wednesday, Maikayla Desjardins (aka #24yrold), a marketing consultant at Marketing Eye Atlanta gave her weekly pep talk to the team. In her talk, she encouraged them to take Friday off and enjoy the Thanksgiving weekend, coming back to the office on Monday all fresh and ready to achieve our company goals for December.

Then, out of the blue, she said, "I want to kick-ass in December and to do this, I need all of your help. I need for you to take the next four days to think about just one thing that we can all do in December that will improve our sales performance and ensure that we achieve our goals."

5 Things That Your Business Can Do In December To Improve Sales

Like any embarrassing employer, I asked them to do it to camera.

5 Things You Can Do to Improve Your Sales Performance

Adam started with what he thought would increase business performance in December by engaging with clients differently on social media. We use to be incredible at social media but at some stage in the past few months, we all got too busy. That meant that we were not responding to clients and key influencers at a level we had done so previously. He also thought we could improve our message to prospects and deliver it in a more compelling and time critical way.

Alphonso thought that we could become more mobile. Marketing Eye Atlanta is launching a new website next week that is mobile friendly. This is no easy task as we have a website with 600 plus pages. Engaging with customers and prospects via mobile is essential in today's business environment and developing a mobile campaign is critical to this.

Brandon focused on what he could do personally to spearhead growth and that is becoming more creative and using different insights into visual identity to ensure that Marketing Eye stands out. Our blogs that are most successful tend to have our own artwork and as such, Brandon wanted to ensure that we were visually communicating our skills. To that end, he recognized that by being exposed to creativity from others including art galleries and online artwork would help him be more inspired to push his own limits.

Maikayla (#24yrold) pushed forward the concept of adapting to change with the knowledge that the most successful startups adapt well to changing customer needs, new technologies and movement with the competitor landscape. Sometimes its just a spin on your company's services that will make it new and exciting for prospects, or an adaptation to your product. Companies SimpliVity and Actifio altered their marketing strategies and product lines to boost their growth and were immensely successful.

My suggestion is to "fall in love with your clients all over again". Sometimes we get so busy working on tactical marketing outcomes that we forget the people behind the brands we work with. Making sure that every single person on the team is in love with our clients and understands the uniqueness in their personalities and sometimes changing entrepreneurial personalities, is paramount.

What can you do in December to change your sales performance? How can you engage your employees to participate in this?
