Marketing Consultant Shares Insights blog

Do you really know your internal brand? What the people in your team think about the company, management and each other - and how that is portrayed outwards?

Today I decided to be brave enough to ask my team in Atlanta what our brand is internally. I asked them to be truthful and to not be shy in saying what they personally think my internal brand in their office is.

I was surprised, impressed and felt like we had all done something right because their thoughts on our internal brand were everything I would dream for a company I worked for to have.
What's your internal brand?

"The Marketing Eye brand stands for quality with a firm attention to personal communications - nothing is generic," said Brice Bradshaw. As a newer member of the team, I was interested in what he had to say. I have never thought about it before, but the US team as a whole are very personalized in their approach with each other and with their clients.

"We think of clients as a someone we have a relationship with, not as a just a revenue source and this comes from the top down."

Natalie Mathews honed in by saying, "we are brutally honest with clients and we let them know what is best for them and their businesses as if it were our own, and they appreciate that. Our culture is collaborative in every way, assisting with developing skill base and being open to constructive criticism while at the same time ensuring that we each play a role in building each other up."

An intern in the office, Amy Yang, said "Marketing Eye spends time on people who don't have experience and supports them to up-skill their capabilities to become better marketers. We also always find new ways for clients to connect with their customers. There is a strong team spirit in the office and everyone helps each other out."

Marketing Eye Atlanta's web developer, Natalie Ricker, shared that the team is extremely hardworking, driven, dedicated, focused, motivated, fun, and importantly caring.

Brandon Reviere, our longest serving employee in the US who has been with the company from only months after we started in the US and is the head Art Director at Marketing Eye globally, said that, "Mellissah always tries to push the staff to take their work to the next level. She also puts in a lot of effort to try and make sure that we are happy in our roles."

Amber Perry loves that the team is collaborative, innovative and stays ahead of market trends, providing rewarding careers for anyone who works with the company.

Other comments that were interesting about the internal brand of Marketing Eye in the US were:

  • The brand stands for something - that is important
  • There is a balance of creativeness and structure
  • Honesty is a core value of the company with full transparency across everything we do internally and externally
  • Everyone is flexible, innovative, efficient, streamlined in their approach and personable
  • People take responsibility for their mistakes and find solutions to problems
  • They each have each other's back and support each other
  • The team and brand is driven, up for a challenge, always thinking outside the box
  • They have fun, are happy in disposition and joke around a lot
All I can say is WOW! I told them to share and I was so surprised with what they had to say. I wanted to hear the negatives so we can focus on them but they were also positives. I took a mental note of "working extremely hard" because I have to remember to thank them and make sure they relax and take it easy every now an then. Brutally honest with clients was also something that I took a mental note of, as we should probably survey our clients and ask them whether they mind that we are like this.

Overall, I am one happy boss.
