Marketing Consultant Shares Insights blog

Do you really want to know why Marketing Eye opened a Dallas, Texas office?

I could say that we did extensive marketing research, or perhaps that we had an opportunity to sell a Marketing Eye license for our brand, so we took it. Both would be wrong. Here's the reason why.

We did research but it took 5 minutes 13 seconds
The 10 reasons Dallas needed a new 'Marketing Eye'

Marketing Eye's internships program encourages marketing interns to do market research. I asked them to do a quick 5 minute research project on the Internet on who were the top marketing companies in Dallas, Texas.

They came back in 5 minutes 13 seconds to be precise with:

"We Googled a list of key phrases as we do in most markets and this is what we came up with."

Type in: Top 10 Marketers in Dallas. Unfortunately, no listing nor any agency appears on the first page, except Marketing Eye, who has been in Dallas now for 6 weeks. We get a mention due to search engine optimization ensuring that keywords "marketers" and "Dallas" are optimized.

Type in: Top 10 Marketers to follow on Twitter in Dallas. In 2009, www.getlevelten.com wrote the "38 Top Twitter Users in Dallas, Texas". I decided to check it out. At #1 spot is Jackie Bese, a partner in Dallas based marketing company AtomicDC. He has... wait for it... 6,655 followers. This is closely followed by #2 spot holder Rick Smith with... 19 followers.

Type in: 10 Top Marketing Agencies in Dallas. Apparently there are none, or at least according to Google.

Dallas is the longest direct flight in the world

The world's longest flight on the biggest plane is Qantas' A380's Sydney to Dallas route. It means that as an Australian company, it is highly likely that Australian headquartered companies will land in Dallas, and perhaps set up a business.

Texas is massive

If Texas was its own country, it would have the 13th highest GDP in the world.

Texas has a lot of people and is growing rapidly

In 2010, Texas' population was 25,145, 561. Just three years later, it was 26,448,193 (US Concensus). Furthermore, the population of Hispanic and Latino people in Texas is greater than the entire population of Georgia, where Marketing Eye first started in the US market.

There is a huge energy business, but sustainability is also key

Texas is renowned for energy businesses, however, its the Texas wind farms that can literally power all the homes in Utah and West Virginia, that is shaping a sustainability industry that could one day surpass energy. Marketing Eye has specialized in marketing in renewable energy organizations.

399,323 businesses need marketing

Of the 1,787,607 small businesses in Texas only 399,323 have employees. That is quite alarming. It further signifies that these businesses are either not marketing, or not doing it well. After spending way too much time on Google of late, I think it may be a combination of both.

Some statistics are conflicting

According to https://texaswideopenforbusiness.com/start-business there are actually 2.2 million small businesses, of which 725,000 are women owned. We quite possibly need to know a closer estimate of how many businesses are there. Surely the Chamber of Commerce or similar has done some feasibility studies! In any case, the fact that woman are leading the way as entrepreneurs is refreshing and something Texas can hang their hat on. It means that women are empowered to be entrepreneurs in Texas and as a woman owned business myself, its always great to have other women around as support.

After looking at other marketing companies in Dallas, we realized that our "Marketing Eye" is quite unique

There are a lot of businesses competing for the same 'energy' dollar. We are not. Marketing Eye is more interested in technology, sustainability, health and medical device, manufacturing and professional services firms. Our bespoke model allows for businesses that wish to catapult their growth plans to achieve long-term and short-term goals through strategic marketing. In the Dallas market, Marketing Eye doesn't have a competitor. Sure there are businesses selling marketing services, but none have a complete outsourced marketing department with no freelancers our outsourced works, backed by technology, systems, processes and media.

I'm Australian. I think I get Texans

There is something about a Texan that is really appealing. They seem to say it as it is, and they don't beat around the business. A handshake is still a handshake. As an Australian, I appreciate that. Besides that, I think more Australians have Dallas Cowboys merchandise than any other country outside of America.

Slow adoption, means big opportunity

Texans are renowned as slow adopters of new marketing techniques. Through education and awareness, we believe that Marketing Eye can help businesses looking for national and international growth by ensuring that when a marketing strategy is developed, it is done so with the best marketing capabilities in the market.
