Instead, they step it up, take control, become better organised and push boundaries.
How does that happen?
Marketing Eye is growing at a phenomenal rate and it's a case of the chicken and the egg. What's first? Hiring is definitely not that easy because there are lots of people applying for jobs, but you want the right people working in your organisation. No-one has that formula right and we certainly don't, but over the years, we have gotten better and are improving the way in which we work with our team and empower them to achieve their career goals.
Having a great view is helpful. When I look out over Sydney Harbour, I am inspired. Who wouldn't be? Sydney is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and definitely the most fun. It is truly Australia's only international city and the buzz of the business world is contagious. I personally cannot get enough of it.
When it comes to working in our Sydney team, I have a sense that they are a tad different. Each of our teams has its own inherent culture, with the entire company falling into a "values system" that we all adhere to. But in Sydney, they talk a lot, they work hard, they collaborate, they pick up stuff from roaming the streets that is inspirational for designers, and they are constantly involved in education and learning more about what others are doing in marketing. It really makes for a high-powered, productive, and exciting environment in which to work.
I love the chatter. I love the snapchats and I really find the selfies in the lifts by #19yearold to be incredibly cute. What that tells me is that she loves coming to work and that what she wears is as important to her as the job itself - just like many other 19 year olds.
Yesterday, I had a meeting every 15 minutes. My head was exploding, but at the same time I was caught up in this crazy rush of adrenalin that pushed me to do better than I had done the day before. In fact, my ideas were more creative and the way we worked as a team was inspiring.
We are in 2016, and if we continue to drive this type of movement in Marketing Eye's offices, the business will continue to explode. I couldn't be prouder.
